The judges will select the writers they wish to put through to the final.Īll finalists must be available to attend the live final in person in September 2022.Īll published finalists must be available to attend the launch of Pulp Idol – Firsts which will be held at a date to be agreed with and confirmed with WoW and the writers.īy entering the competition, all finalists consent to their first chapter being printed and published, along with their contact email, in a book of ‘Firsts’ by Writing on the Wall, in hard-copy and electronic formats including, but not restricted to, Amazon Kindle.Īll finalists are expected to take part in any publicity or events, when available, relating to Pulp Idol. Previous entrants of Pulp Idol who did not reach the final are welcome to enter.Īt the heat, each writer will read for three minutes from the beginning of their first chapter followed by answering three questions from the judging panel. They may be self-published, in hard copy or on the internet (if in doubt, please contact the organisers).Įntrants must submit a copy of their first chapter by uploading it onto the application form provided on the website, along with a brief synopsis (50 words) and a brief biography (50 words). Writers must not have been published by a recognised or registered publisher. The competition is open to unpublished writers who are working on a fiction novel. Writers submitting from outside of these areas will be excluded from the competition. This competition is only open to writers living and working in the Liverpool City Region. The closing date for the competition is Friday 19th August 2022 at midnight.
